Referral Process
Gareth Thomas Endodontics referral service has been established to enable your patients to access high-quality endodontic treatment locally. The referral process has been designed with simplicity and convenience in mind.
I welcome referrals for private endodontic treatment at Rhiwbina Pines Dental Practice and Cheltenham Endodontics. Under my care, your patients’ treatment will be completed to the highest standard using up to date specialist equipment, materials and the latest in operative techniques. We will contact you to confirm the patient has been contacted and booked for consultation, treatment appointments and when discharged back to your care for definitive restoration.

The Rhiwbina and Cheltenham dental practices have access to experienced specialist dental implantologists Rob Adams, David Pitt, Nick Claydon and Guy Bailey. If the tooth you referred is not suitable for endodontic treatment this will typically be referred back to you for extraction and further treatment. However, you may wish the patient to have an implant consultation, if so you can indicate this on your referral.
I am happy to accept referrals for:
- Complex primary treatment
- Retreatment
- Instrument/post removal
- Management of trauma/perforation repair
- Microsurgical endodontics
I also welcome referral where practitioners or patients would prefer endodontic treatment to be carried out using specialist skills and equipment to maximise a successful outcome.
- Treatment is undertaken by an experienced, highly qualified endodontic practitioner
- Advanced endodontic care in cases ineligible for NHS referral
- 2 convenient specialist practice locations in North Cardiff and Cheltenham

My Referral Process
Step 1
When your referral is received, one of our team will contact your patient within 72 hours to arrange a consultation appointment
Step 2
At consultation, the tooth will be assessed to ensure suitability, Predictable Endodontics. Detailed endodontic treatment planning will be undertaken.
Step 3
Appointment(s) will be scheduled to provide the highest quality treatment for your patient
Step 4
Once treatment is complete, your will be provided with a report and your patient will be returned for definitive restoration
Unsuitable?
If the case is deemed unsuitable for endodontic treatment your patient will be returned to you for extraction (you can request implant opinion with our in-house implant specialists)
